Located two-hour drive away from Kanazawa, Tsukumowan bay is one of the most beautiful scenic spot in Noto Peninsula. Tsukumo means ninety nine in Japanese, since complex ria shoreline shapes dozens upon dozens of small bay.

In the center of the bay, there is the Horaijima Island enshrining Sarasvati, the goddess of water.

A small ryokan (traditional Japanese style inn), "Hyakurakuso" is located in there facing Tsukumowan Bay. It is advisable to take a couple of days for relaxing at there.

Necessity of conservative

Conservative is one of the most important factor to establish traditional culture.

Culture is expression and activity deeply rooted from local daily life and climate. It takes a certain amount of time to be established them.

For instance, a referral is required to visit well-established Japanese restaurant and teahouse. It is not a simple matter of the payment, a man who introduce someone to shops is required to guarantee that person will respect culture and style of the shops.

In other instance, business strategy of well-establish company is conservative. These companies do not grow at a rapid rate but also their company would not run into financial difficulty by huge expansion, since their first priority is continuing their business.

Finally, conservative is not the same meaning of exclusive. Even a well-established company has to be changed according to times in some situations.

Omicho Market

"Omicho Market" started from a rest house of Kaga Clan in 1721 when the local lord go for falconry. The market is crowded with local people always as a kitchen for the local. Since many shops are not damaged by World War 2, they have antique atmosphere.

There are many small shops where they sell local ingredients, such as fresh see food, vegetables and fruits. Small alleys lie between shops are like a labirynth. Especially, quality of see food is excellent and beyond comparison.

If you have time to stroll around the market during your stay in Kanazawa, I recommend you to visit by noon before the goods are sold out.
